Record Price Rug Sold for 5.5 Million

Talk about an unbelievable buy! This Pearl Carpet of Baroda sold for nearly 5.5 million dollars on March 19th, 2009. The carpet measured 5’8” by 8’8” and was valued at 120,000 dollars in 1865 according to Tribune India.  It was made in India with hundreds of rubies, sapphires, diamonds, and an estimated 1.4 million Basra pearls.
